Ecco II – 45’ Eldridge McInnis Classic Coastal Cruiser (1970)
Reserve: $15,000
An extraordinary opportunity to own a true piece of Maine maritime history. Ecco II, originally launched as Harbinger, is a 45-foot Eldridge McInnis vessel built in 1970 in Thomaston, Maine, where Lyman-Morse is located today. Constructed oak over mahogany, she embodies the craftsmanship, beauty, and enduring character of Maine’s classic working and cruising boats.
Originally commissioned for the Hunt’s Ketchup heiress, Harbinger spent her early years cruising the Maine coast before operating for many years as a charter vessel out of Portland, Maine. She was later donated to Maine Maritime Academy, where she continued service for many years as both a charter and educational vessel.
She has always remained a local Maine boat, and it is our sincere hope that she continues to stay in local waters for years to come.
Registered with the United States Coast Guard and currently moored in Rockland Harbor, Maine, Ecco II comes with her mooring for the remainder of the 2026 summer season.
She features:
Three staterooms
Two bathrooms
Spacious salon
Full kitchen/galley
Powered by a diesel engine in excellent working order, she has been meticulously maintained over the years and includes numerous important upgrades and improvements, including:
New topside work
Fresh paint
Repairs addressing many previous issues
The stern is equipped with davits for hauling a launch (launch not included), and she carries two masts for those wishing to restore her steadying sail capabilities.
While she offers tremendous potential for further restoration or cosmetic personalization, Ecco II can also be enjoyed immediately as a turn-key vessel and liveaboard. Whether you envision restoring her to her full classic glory or simply stepping aboard and enjoying Maine harbor life this season, she offers a rare blend of history, character, and usability.
Ecco II presents a unique opportunity to own a vessel with remarkable provenance, timeless craftsmanship, and deep roots in Maine’s maritime heritage. She has all the potential to become the crown jewel of any classic boat collection or restoration project.
Serious restorers, maritime enthusiasts, and lovers of classic Maine vessels are strongly encouraged to take a closer look at this exceptional offering.
Ecco II will be available for viewing at the Rockland Harbor Pier on Saturday, May 30, from 10:00 AM–11:30 AM for those wishing to tour the vessel in person.
